PrintWashington DC has a plethora of free attractions including all of the Smithsonian Museums and the Zoo.

Teach your kids about American history at the Smithsonian National Museum of American History.  See the original “Star-Spangled Banner” that inspired the national anthem, explore the history of the American presidency, and check out Dorothy’s red slippers or meet Kermit the Frog in the permanent exhibition “National Treasures of Popular Culture.” http://americanhistory.si.edu/

Giant Pandas are perhaps the most popular animals at the National Zoo and you can pay a visit to Mei Xiang and Tian Tian.  These pandas are testament to the great conservation work of the Zoo as their baby Tai Shan was only the third panda ever to be born in the USA. As well as the pandas, you can many new arrivals including a rare Kiwi hatchling named Hiri and a pair of Andean bear cubs.  Everyone loves the zoo – especially when entry is free! http://nationalzoo.si.edu/
